About Friends of the Chippewa School
Discover the story behind our commitment to preserving a cherished piece of Ohio's history.

Our Mission: Preserving History
Friends of the Chippewa School is a 501 (c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the last one-room schoolhouse in Sandusky County, Clyde, Ohio. Our mission and vision are to fully renovate and restore the schoolhouse, eventually opening it to the public as an educational and historical resource.

The Road to Restoration
The 132-year-old brick building is in relatively good shape but requires significant repair and maintenance. Both the exterior and interior have a long to-do list that will require funding, dedicated volunteers, and hard work to complete. We are actively working on assessments and planning for the necessary renovations.

Our Dedicated Team
Our board of directors is comprised of passionate individuals committed to our cause. They bring diverse skills and dedication to ensure the successful preservation and restoration of the Chippewa Schoolhouse. Our board members include: Steve Pearson, Matt Hofelich, Tami Hofelich, John Payne, Dan Polter, Lisa Doebel, and Joann Jahns.
